1. Why is this tour more expensive that others I have seen that seem similar?
After collecting extensive feedback from families who have traveled with us over the last 7 years, we have decided to upgrade this year’s tour accommodations and flights. We know that centrally located hotels are a major advantage as all of the locations we are visiting are incredible at night. By staying downtown in each location, we get much more out of each day. We also have received feedback that upgrading the hotels to a high 4-star level is much more comfortable for the large number of parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles that we usually have on tour…the kids love it too!! We also decided it would be worth it to not only visit New York, but spend a good amount of time there. It is the most expensive destination we are visiting, but offers so much that we decided we had to include it!
2. How do flights work and are those upgraded as well?
We have contracted for non-stop flights on this itinerary and we think that is a major upgrade based on our experience with most student tours. This will not only give us more time in the destination, but it also removes the variables that connecting flights create.
3. What is the value of traveling in a group like this? Can’t I do it on my own?
We have found that our success is based upon a balance of education, fun and humor. Students love traveling with their peers and sharing unique educational and fun experiences with each other. Parents love having their own unique needs met while their students are also enjoying themselves with their friends. We always include activities specifically for each member of the family. For example, while parents are having a dinner out, their kiddos may go on a scavenger hunt with their teacher chaperones. We find that both kids and parents need their time together…and apart from time to time. Having the same educators along for the journey that teach your students is a HUGE advantage as they know not only how to teach your kiddos, they are experts in keeping them engaged and entertained.
4. Can students travel without their parents or an adult family member?
Absolutely. We find that about 25-50 percent of our travelers that are traveling without a parent or guardian. Your teacher chaperones are with them throughout the journey and we have a series of security protocols in place that start from the moment they board the bus to the airport and finish when they return to school at the end of the trip.
5. Is this a school field trip?
The simple answer to this question is no. Though it will be led teachers, this is not an official district field trip put on or associated with Riverside Unified School District in any way. In order to meet all state and federal laws that are associated with a school sponsored trip, we would have to cover the cost of any students interested and unfortunately, we just couldn’t do that. We have had great success over the last 14 trips running them this way.
6. Is the price different if more members of the family go and can I have my own room?
The price will vary based on how many family members are in each hotel room and it is possible to upgrade to have your own room. We will address those questions on an individual basis when you fill out your form to request space on the trip.
